In Aria: The Scarlet Ammo season 1 episode 1, we are introduced to the world of Butei, a special school for armed detectives who solve crimes and protect the citizens. The episode is titled "La Bambina" and begins with our main character, Kinji Toyama, a second-year student at Butei High School. Kinji tries to distance himself from the school and its curriculum, but his plans are interrupted when he receives a challenging message from a mysterious girl named Aria H. Kanzaki. Aria is a first-year student at the school and a famous Butei, who invites Kinji to join her in solving a case.
Kinji meets Aria and her sidekick, Riko Mine, at a cafe where they discuss the case at hand. Aria wants Kinji's help to find a stolen item, the Butei Killer, a highly-advanced weapon with deadly capabilities. The Butei Killer has a special ability that allows it to bond with its owner, which makes it highly sought after, and Aria believes it has been stolen by a Butei student. Aria believes the thief is a male student at Butei High School and has identified Kinji as the prime suspect.
Kinji is not happy with the accusations, but Aria threatens him with her own weapon, a pair of Beretta pistols, which she keeps with her at all times. Aria's guns, like Kinji's special ability, are a unique feature of the Butei school, and Aria is one of the best in her class. Aria's tough exterior and aggressive behavior towards Kinji confuse him, and he is reluctant to work with her. However, when Aria reveals that she has information about Kinji's family, he is compelled to help her solve the case.
Kinji and Aria team up to find the thief and the Butei Killer, and their first lead takes them to an underground club where Butei students play strip poker. The club is hidden from the school and regulated by a group of powerful students. Kinji and Aria sneak into the club and engage in a game of strip poker with the students, hoping to find their suspect. The game is intense, and Kinji and Aria are eventually caught by the club security. They fight their way out and escape, but not before discovering a clue that leads them to a second location.
At the second location, Kinji and Aria discover a hidden laboratory, where they believe the Butei Killer is being held. They are attacked by the thief and their associates, revealing that the suspect is not a Butei student but an outside criminal. Kinji and Aria fight off the attackers and retrieve the Butei Killer, but they are confronted by a new enemy, an organization called IU, who is after the weapon.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger, with IU gaining possession of the Butei Killer, and Kinji and Aria's fate unknown. "La Bambina" sets up the rest of the series, introducing us to the Butei school, its students, and the dangerous world they live in. The episode reveals Kinji's hidden ability, Aria's reputation as a top Butei, and the shady dealings of IU, promising more action and drama in the coming episodes.
