Ep 5. Independence Day

The show Army Wives season 1 episode 5 is titled "Independence Day." The episode revolves around the July 4th celebration in the army base, the Fort Marshall. The general atmosphere on the base is that of patriotic fervor and the spirit of liberty. The day brings with it a plethora of activities, including a parade and a fireworks display.

Pamela, one of the wives, is tasked with organizing the parade. Despite her initial apprehensions, she is determined to make it a success. She gets to work and manages to gather a group of volunteers to help her execute the parade. However, things don't go as planned as one of her volunteers backs out at the last minute, leaving her in a bind.

Meanwhile, Roxy, another army wife, is busy preparing for a barbecue. Her restaurant is thriving, and she has received an order from a customer in a nearby state. However, things take a turn for the worse when her delivery truck breaks down, leaving her stranded. She comes up with a plan to borrow a car from a friend, but it too gives way, putting her in a tight spot.

Denise, another army wife, gets a surprise visit from her son, who has just returned from his deployment in Iraq. She is overwhelmed with joy and happiness at seeing him again, but soon realizes that he is struggling with the transition back to civilian life. She tries to reach out to him and convince him to seek help but faces resistance from him.

Frank, the battalion commander, is tasked with overseeing the fireworks display. He has everything planned out, and the preparations are going well until his soldiers inform him that they are running low on fireworks. He scrambles to find a solution and manages to pull off a spectacular display in the end.

Lastly, Claudia Joy, the wife of the base's general, is feeling left out and lonely. Her husband is busy with work, and she feels like she doesn't fit in with the other army wives. She makes an effort to spend time with some of them during the celebrations but still feels like an outsider.

The episode ends with all the characters coming together to watch the fireworks display, united in their common love for their country and the sacrifices they have made to defend it.
