Set in an alternate universe where the Titans are not terrifying man-eating giants but just regular high school students, Attack on Titan: Junior High is a whimsical parody of the original anime series. In season 1 episode 1, titled Starting School! Titan Junior High School, we are introduced to the main characters of the show and their new school.

The episode begins with Eren Yeager, the protagonist of the original series, waking up and rushing to get ready for his first day at Titan Junior High School. As he runs out of his house, he accidentally bumps into his best friend Mikasa Ackerman, who is also attending the same school as him. The two friends chat for a bit before realizing they are running late and need to hurry.

As they make their way to school, we see glimpses of other familiar characters from the original series, but in their younger, chibi-like forms. Armin Arlert is a nervous and bookish student who is always carrying around a stack of books. Sasha Braus is a food-loving student who always has a snack in hand. Connie Springer is a cheerful and energetic student who is easily distracted. Jean Kirstein is a cocky and self-absorbed student who is always trying to prove himself.

Once Eren and Mikasa arrive at school, they are greeted by their homeroom teacher, Mr. Keith Sadies, who introduces himself as the history teacher. He is also revealed to be an adult version of the character from the original series, but in this universe, he is just a regular human and not a member of the Survey Corps.

As class begins, Mr. Sadies starts off by taking attendance and assigning seats. We see Eren, Mikasa, and their friends sit at their desks, but we also see a group of unfamiliar students sitting at the back of the classroom. These are the Titans, who are also students at the same school but are shunned by the human students due to their size and appearance.

Throughout the episode, we see the Titans struggle to fit in and make friends. One of them, a small Titan named Connie, tries to befriend Eren and his friends, but their fear of Titans makes it difficult for them to trust him. Meanwhile, the other Titans struggle to find their place in the school, with some of them being bullied and ridiculed by the human students.

As the day goes on, we see the students attend classes and interact with each other in various ways. Eren and Mikasa have a run-in with Jean, who challenges Eren to a footrace to prove who is faster. With the help of his friends, Eren manages to win, much to Jean's chagrin.

We also see Sasha sneak snacks during class, Armin get teased for being a nerd, and the Titans deal with their own struggles of being accepted. Despite the challenges, the students all manage to have a fun and eventful first day of school.

Towards the end of the episode, we see the Titans causing chaos in the lunchroom, which leads to a food fight breaking out. As the students throw food at each other, we see Eren and Mikasa start to see the Titans in a different light. They realize that the Titans are just like them, and that they shouldn't judge them based on their appearance.

The episode ends with Eren and Mikasa approaching the Titans and offering to be friends with them. The Titans are hesitant at first, but eventually agree to give it a try. With this newfound understanding and friendship, the students of Titan Junior High School start to come together as one.

Overall, Starting School! Titan Junior High School is a fun and lighthearted introduction to the world of Attack on Titan: Junior High. While the show may not be as action-packed or intense as the original series, it still manages to capture the spirit of the characters and world in a unique and humorous way. With its adorable chibi-like animation and silly hijinks, this show is sure to entertain both fans of the original series and newcomers alike.
