In the episode "White Heat" of Batman season 4, a former actor named Grant Walker has created a machine that can freeze people into suspended animation. He plans to use this to reawaken himself and his rich friends in the future, after the rest of the world has died off. However, the process of creating the freeze solution has caused Walker to age prematurely and become extremely fragile.

Meanwhile, Batman and Robin investigate a series of robberies committed using what appears to be a freezing ray. They track the perpetrators to a warehouse owned by Walker, and Batman is captured by Walker's henchmen. Walker reveals his plan to Batman, believing that the Caped Crusader will be sympathetic to his goal of preserving the elite of society.

However, Batman is disgusted and refuses to help him. After being left alone, Batman uses his ingenuity to escape from his restraints and engage in a fight with Walker's men. As the fight continues, the warehouse begins to overheat due to the freeze solution's instability. Eventually, the building explodes in a massive fire, seemingly killing Walker and his henchmen.

However, Batman discovers that Walker has survived and is now imbued with the ability to generate extreme heat. He uses this power to build a new machine, which he plans to use to destroy Gotham and all of its inhabitants. Batman and Robin race to stop him, but struggle to combat his intense heat aura.

Eventually, Batman realizes that he can use the same unstable properties of the freeze solution to counteract Walker's heat. He lures Walker into a trap and covers him in the freeze solution, causing his body to shatter. The episode ends with Batman and Robin reflecting on the danger of playing god with science, and the importance of human connection in a changing world.
