The Trigger (2) is the seventeenth episode of the first season of Beast Wars, a computer-animated television series that depicts the war between two factions of robotic beings that have taken on the form of Earth's native animals. The episode follows the events of its precursor, The Trigger (1), which saw Megatron, the evil leader of the Predacons, and his team of villains, capture the Autobots' scientist, Rhinox, and reprogram him to be their weapon of mass destruction. In The Trigger (2), the Autobots race against time to save Rhinox from the clutches of the Predacons, who plan to unleash his full destructive force on their foes.
The episode starts with Rhinox in Predacon captivity, his mind under Megatron's control. The Predacon leader gloats about his latest creation, a metallic sphere called the Vok, which he plans to use to destroy the Autobots once and for all. However, the Vok requires a key, which is hidden within Rhinox's mind.
Meanwhile, the Autobots are on the verge of discovering Rhinox's whereabouts when they are attacked by the Predacons. A fierce battle ensues, and both sides suffer significant losses. The Autobots manage to capture Waspinator, a cowardly and easily-injured Predacon, and threaten to use him as leverage to trade for Rhinox's release.
Back at the Predacon base, Megatron orders Rhinox to activate the Vok. But the brainwashed Autobot resists, and even manages to break free from his restraints momentarily. Frustrated, Megatron orders his henchmen to execute Rhinox.
The Autobots finally locate the Predacon base, and mount a full-scale invasion. They manage to rescue Rhinox, but the situation soon takes a turn for the worse. Megatron activates the Vok himself, unleashing its full power on the Autobots. The Vok creates a massive energy field, causing a beam of light to shoot across the planet. The Autobots and Predacons alike are left baffled and terrified by the sight.
In a thrilling climax, the Autobots manage to stop the Vok and save the day. However, the incident has wide-ranging implications for the future of the war. The Autobots are left wondering about the true extent of the Predacons' technology and their motivations for wanting to destroy the planet. Meanwhile, Megatron is forced to confront the limitations of his power and the fact that he may not be invincible after all.
Overall, The Trigger (2) is a thrilling and action-packed episode that keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. Its focus on the interplay between the Autobots and Predacons, as well as its exploration of the limits of their technology, makes it a standout installment in the series. The animation is top-notch, and the performances of the voice actors are excellent. Fans of Beast Wars will not be disappointed by this episode.
