Binbogami ga! is an anime series produced by Sunrise and directed by Yoichi Fujita. It is based on the manga of the same name by Yoshiaki Sukeno. The show was licensed by FUNimation and released in North America on DVD and Blu-ray in 2013. The series follows the story of Ichiko Sakura, a girl who has always been lucky. She is smart, beautiful, and has everything she could want. This is all thanks to her great fortune energy, which attracts good luck and positive outcomes to her life. However, Ichiko's luck comes at a cost. Her fortune energy is so great that she absorbs the fortune energy of those around her, leaving them with misfortune and bad luck. This causes Ichiko to be disliked by her classmates and the people around her.

One day, a god of misfortune named Momiji Binboda is sent to earth to restore balance to the universe, as Ichiko has accumulated too much fortune energy. She attempts to extract the excess energy from Ichiko, but is unsuccessful due to Ichiko's resistance. Ichiko's luck causes her to unknowingly deflect Momiji's attempts, causing her to become more powerful as a result. Momiji then decides to move in with Ichiko to monitor her and prevent her from raising too much fortune energy.

Throughout the series, Momiji attempts to steal Ichiko's fortune energy in various comedic and absurd ways. For instance, she enrolls in Ichiko's class and attempts to embarrass Ichiko in front of her classmates, causing her to lose her good luck. Momiji also recruits other gods of misfortune to help her in her quest, including a poverty god named Kumagai and a bad luck god named Bobby.

Meanwhile, Ichiko must deal with the problems caused by her excessive fortune energy, including being stalked by admirers, becoming the target of wealth-obsessed criminals, and being the subject of a love triangle between herself, her childhood friend, and a popular boy in her class. As the series progresses, Ichiko begins to develop a closer relationship with Momiji and the other misfortune gods, realizing the negative impact her luck has on others. She becomes more selfless, using her fortune energy to help those around her rather than just herself.

One of the standout aspects of Binbogami ga! is its humor. The comedic timing and delivery of the jokes is spot on, with plenty of witty one-liners, slapstick humor, and clever parodies of other anime and pop culture phenomena. The characters are all likable and well-written, with their own unique personalities and quirks. Ichiko, in particular, is a refreshing protagonist given that she starts off as a bit of a brat but develops into a more compassionate and selfless person as the series goes on.

The animation and music are both also impressive. The character designs are cute and distinctive, and the action sequences are well-animated and exciting. The music includes catchy opening and ending themes, as well as a fun and energetic instrumental score.

Overall, Binbogami ga! is an entertaining and enjoyable anime series that blends humor, action, and romance in a unique and memorable way. Its likable characters, well-executed humor, and strong character development make it a must-watch for fans of anime comedy.
