Ep 1. Friends and Family

In the season 3 premiere of Burn Notice, titled "Friends and Family," Michael Westen finds himself in hot water yet again. He's still picking up the pieces after his girlfriend Fiona's desperate attempt to save him from the hands of the organization that burned him - an organization that he's determined to take down.

As the episode opens, Michael is on his way to Miami to reconnect with his old friend and FBI contact, Agent Bly. However, before he can even land, he's intercepted by a group of thugs who are looking to settle a score with him. Michael quickly disposes of his attackers and makes it to Bly's office relatively unscathed.

But the reunion with Bly isn't exactly a warm one. Bly makes it clear that he's done helping Michael and insinuates that Michael's own actions may have led to his current situation. Furious and frustrated, Michael storms out of the office.

Meanwhile, back in Miami, Michael's mother Madeline is dealing with her own problems. She's been receiving threatening phone calls from an old acquaintance, a shady character named Armand who she used to associate with back in her drinking days. Michael's brother Nate thinks he can handle the situation, but Madeline insists that she needs Michael's help.

Back at his Miami safe house, Michael is still reeling from his confrontation with Bly. Fiona is doing her best to support Michael, but he's completely shut down and refuses to talk about his past. When Madeline shows up asking for help, Michael reluctantly agrees to look into her problem.

But things quickly go from bad to worse. When Michael meets with Armand, the situation quickly turns violent and Michael is forced to defend himself. In the chaos that ensues, Michael's identity as a former spy is revealed to Armand's associates. Now, Michael has a much bigger problem on his hands than just a simple blackmail scheme.

As the episode progresses, Michael finds himself battling both his past and his present. He's forced to team up with Fiona and his old friend Carlos to take down Armand and his associates before they can do any more damage. But even as he's fighting to keep his loved ones safe, Michael knows that his own past mistakes may have set the stage for this dangerous situation in the first place.

"Friends and Family" is a gripping and action-packed episode that sets the stage for the rest of the season. Viewers are left wondering what other dangerous enemies Michael will face and how he'll continue to balance his quest for revenge with his desire to protect the people he loves. As always, the show is full of plenty of twists and turns, making for a thrilling viewing experience.
