Ep 63 - Gold, Glory and Custer - Requiem (2) is an episode from Season 4 of the TV show Cheyenne. The episode begins with Cheyenne and Dusty heading towards Montana, but they are confronted by some Sioux warriors. This leads to huge battles between the two sides, which ends with a peace treaty. Cheyenne then visits General Custer who is planning an expedition to see the new gold mines discovered in the mountains of Montana. Cheyenne agrees to join the expedition and they head out together. Along the way, they face numerous challenges, including an attack from a different tribe of Native Americans, and they are forced to take refuge in a church.
The next day, the group sets out again and they finally reach the mining camp. Everyone is eager to get their hands on the gold, but they soon realize that the camp is being threatened by a group of outlaws. Cheyenne and Custer lead the fight against the outlaws and their leader, and after a long and vicious struggle, they are finally able to defeat them. However, this victory is short-lived as Cheyenne soon learns that Custer has been defeated and killed at the Battle of Little Bighorn.
Cheyenne is devastated by Custer's death and he decides to pay his respects by attending the funeral. He is joined by Dusty and a few of Custer's closest friends, and they ride out to the site of the battle. Along the way, they encounter many tragic scenes, including the bodies of soldiers and Native Americans alike. Finally, they reach the site of the battle, and Cheyenne is able to say goodbye to his friend in his own way.
The episode ends with Cheyenne and Dusty leaving the site of the battle, a somber reminder of the terrible loss of life that occurred there. Despite the tragedy, Cheyenne is determined to continue on with his life and fulfill his promise to Custer to live his life to the fullest. It is a poignant and emotional ending to a powerful episode that explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the high cost of war.
