Come Dine With Me
Season 37

Ep 6. Glasgow

  • January 6, 2016

Come Dine with Me is back with the 37th season, and episode 6 takes us to the bustling city of Glasgow. As always, the show follows four amateur chefs, each hosting a dinner party for the other contestants and giving them a taste of their cooking abilities.

The first to host is Waseem, a tech salesman who is keen to impress his guests with his skills in the kitchen. Waseem is from Pakistan, and he decides to bring a touch of his cultural heritage to his menu, incorporating some traditional Pakistani dishes, such as biryani and lamb kofta. However, his ambitious menu includes dishes that he has never made before, and this leads to some unforeseen complications in the kitchen.

Next up is Lynn, a retired nurse who wants to show off the best of Scottish cuisine. Her menu features some classic Scottish dishes such as haggis, neeps and tatties, and Cranachan, a traditional Scottish dessert made from cream, honey, and raspberries. Lynn puts a lot of effort into the presentation of her dishes, making sure they look as good as they taste. However, her guests have mixed reactions to some of the more unusual aspects of her menu.

On day three, it's the turn of Gary, a social worker who takes a more playful approach to his menu. He starts the evening by serving his guests a variety of cocktails before serving up his first course, which is a fish and chip starter presented in a newspaper wrapping. Gary's menu is a mix of classic British food with a twist, and he even manages to sneak in a reference to The Proclaimers, a Scottish band. However, his playful presentation occasionally comes at the expense of substance, and there are some disagreements among his guests about the quality of his food.

Finally, it's the turn of Sarah, a personal trainer who wants to show that healthy food can be tasty too. Sarah's menu features a range of low-fat, high-protein meals, including chicken skewers, stuffed peppers, and a yogurt and berry dessert. Unlike her fellow contestants, Sarah's presentation is simple and understated, focusing more on flavor than aesthetics. However, her healthy food choices don't go down well with everyone, and there are some complaints about the lack of indulgence.

Throughout the episodes, we see the contestants enjoying each other's company, but also indulging in a bit of friendly competition. After each meal, the guests anonymously rate the host's food and hosting skills, and the contestant with the highest score at the end of the week wins a cash prize of £1000.

Come Dine with Me season 37 episode 6 in Glasgow is a great showcase of the diversity of Scottish and Pakistani cuisine, as well as the ingenuity and creativity of amateur chefs. With playful presentation, ambitious menus, and lively discussion, this episode is sure to keep viewers entertained and engaged.
