Cow and Chicken was a popular animated series from the late 90s that aired on Cartoon Network. Developed by David Feiss, the show revolves around the lives of two anthropomorphic siblings - a cow named Cow and her chicken brother, aptly called Chicken. The show is famous for its absurd humor and satirical take on various societal issues.

The titular characters live together with their ordinary, suburban human parents. Cow is depicted as a highly intelligent and rational character, while Chicken is portrayed as a carefree, almost reckless one. Despite their differences, the two siblings share a close relationship with each other.

The show features a colorful cast of supporting characters, with each being more bizarre than the last. The most notable of these characters include the Red Guy, a demonic entity that takes on various roles, such as a teacher, doctor, or even the siblings' neighbor; Flem and Earl, two neighborhood bullies; and the outlandish superhero duo of Cowman and Chicken.

The show's humor is highly irreverent and is known for pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable in children's programming. Many of the show's gags and jokes are highly satirical and involve the characters breaking the fourth wall to comment on their own absurdity. Cow and Chicken was also known for its use of gross-out humor, with many episodes featuring bodily fluids and other cringe-worthy elements.

Despite being marketed towards children, the show's humor often went over the heads of its intended audience. Much of the humor was aimed towards adults and featured themes such as sex education, religion, and consumerism. On the other hand, the show was also popular among stoner culture, with many of its jokes and themes catering to the interests of this demographic.

One of the show's most memorable aspects is its animation style. The characters are drawn in a highly exaggerated, cartoonish style, with many of the show's gags being conveyed through visual gags and slapstick humor. The backgrounds are often highly stylized and feature bold, bright colors that add to the overall zaniness of the show.

The voice cast is another standout aspect of the show. Charles Adler voices Cow and Chicken, with Dee Bradley Baker providing the voice for additional characters such as Dad and Flem. Candi Milo voices Mom, while Michael Dorn provides the voice of the Red Guy, and Howard Morris voices additional characters. Meanwhile, Dan Castellaneta, who is perhaps best known for his work as Homer Simpson on The Simpsons, provides the voice for various characters throughout the show's run.

Overall, Cow and Chicken is a highly entertaining and memorable animated series that remains a beloved classic to this day. Its unique brand of off-kilter humor and irreverent style still resonates with audiences of all ages, making it a timeless and beloved addition to the Cartoon Network lineup.

Cow and Chicken is a series that ran for 4 seasons (57 episodes) between September 16, 1997 and on Cartoon Network
