Guy Fieri is back on the road in search of the best comfort foods and time-tested treasures in the 12th episode of season 13 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. This week, he's hitting up three classic eateries that have been serving up delicious cuisine for decades.
First up is a Texas-style BBQ joint in Fort Worth that's been around since 1932. The slow-smoked meats at Angelo's BBQ have been drawing in locals and tourists alike for over 85 years, and Guy is eager to see what all the fuss is about. He samples their famous beef brisket, ribs, and sausage, and gets a behind-the-scenes look at how they smoke and flavor their meats.
Next, Guy heads to South Carolina to visit a family-owned diner that's been serving up classic breakfast dishes since 1945. Stacks Pancake House offers all the traditional favorites, from fluffy pancakes to eggs cooked any way you like, as well as some signature items like their "Piggy Stacks" – pancakes loaded with bacon and sausage. Guy chats with the family who owns the diner and learns about their history and tradition of using fresh, local ingredients.
Finally, Guy travels to New York City to visit a legendary Italian restaurant that's been a staple in the Harlem community since 1900. Rao's has been serving up classic Italian dishes for over a century, and even has a loyal following of celebrity regulars like Martin Scorsese and Jay-Z. Guy gets a taste of some of their most popular dishes, like meatballs and linguine with clams, and learns about the history of the restaurant and its neighborhood.
Throughout the episode, Guy meets with the owners and chefs of each establishment to learn about their history and the secret to their longevity. He also tries his hand at making some of their signature dishes and gets a taste of the time-tested treasures that keep customers coming back year after year.
