In the ninth episode of season 2 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, host Guy Fieri sets out on a culinary adventure to explore some of the best family-owned restaurants in America. The episode showcases a diverse range of eateries, from a bustling Mexican restaurant in Colorado to a cozy cafe in San Francisco. Each restaurant has its own unique story and vibe, but they all share a passion for serving up delicious, homemade cuisine.

The first stop on Guy's journey is Rosa's Mexican Grill in Breckenridge, Colorado. Rosa's is a family-owned restaurant that has been serving up authentic Mexican cuisine for over 25 years. Guy sits down with owner Rosa and her daughter to learn about their family recipes and the secret to making the perfect carne asada. He also samples some of their famous enchiladas and tamales, which are made fresh every day.

Next, Guy heads to Cafe Jacqueline, a charming little bistro in San Francisco run by owner-chef Jacqueline Margulis. Jacqueline is a master of French cuisine and has been cooking up gourmet dishes for over 30 years. Guy marvels at her deft knife skills as she prepares a succulent duck dish right in front of him. He also gets to sample her famous souffles, which are light and airy yet bursting with flavor.

After a taste of France, Guy takes a trip to a family-owned Italian restaurant in Fairport, New York called Jojo's Bistro & Wine Bar. Owner-chef Jojo has been serving up classic Italian dishes with a modern twist for over 10 years. Guy can't resist trying Jojo's signature dish, the Chicken Sinatra, which is stuffed with prosciutto and fontina cheese. He also gets a taste of Jojo's homemade pastas and pizzas, which are cooked to perfection in a wood-fired oven.

Next up is a homestyle diner in Tucumcari, New Mexico called Kix on 66. The diner is run by a husband-and-wife team who serve up hearty breakfasts and classic American fare all day long. Guy tries some of their famous green chili cheeseburgers and a plate of huevos rancheros, which are made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

The final stop on Guy's family-owned food tour is a Jewish deli in Miami Beach called Josh's Deli. Owner-chef Josh Marcus is a self-taught cook who has created a menu inspired by his Jewish upbringing and his travels around the world. Guy tries Josh's famous pastrami sandwich, which is made from scratch and takes over a week to prepare. He also gets a taste of Josh's house-cured lox and homemade pickles.

Throughout the episode, Guy marvels at the passion and dedication of these family-owned restaurant owners and cooks. He discovers that each eatery has its own unique story and flavor, but they all share a commitment to serving up delicious, homemade cuisine. Whether it's a classic Italian dish or a modern take on Jewish deli fare, these family-owned restaurants have something to offer for everyone.
