Guy Fieri, the bold host of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is back at it again, taking a detour from the beaten path in search of the tastiest, heartiest and most satisfying meals around America. In season 2012, episode 13, named Big Time Flavor, viewers are taken on a culinary journey through some of America's lesser-known food gems.

The episode starts with a visit to a restaurant that is all about breakfast and lunch- the Blue Door Cafe in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. In this joint, the menu boasts of hearty dishes such as the griddled banana bread, sweet potato hash, and the decadent Monte Cristo sandwich. Guy is particularly impressed by the cafe's off-the-beaten-path breakfast dishes, which include decadent pastries and bread baked in-house.

Moving on, Guy heads to visit a New Orleans' food truck that is famous for its rich and delicious gumbo, Jahno's Cajun Love. Sited near Tulane University, Jahno's Cajun Love serves up a mouth-watering rendition of Cajun and Creole cuisine done the New Orleans way. Guy samples a steamy bowl of hearty gumbo loaded with sausage, tender chicken, and shrimp imbued with Creole spices and served alongside a bowl of jambalaya and soulful bread pudding.

Next, Guy visits a legendary restaurant in San Francisco, California- the Kitchenette. This eatery prides itself on serving up a massive array of comfort foods inspired by the city's multicultural identity. The owner, Mohammed, showcases his signature dishes, including a stacked & sticky pastrami burger and a pork chop sandwich oozing with garlic and peppercorn sauce. Additionally, he prepares a stuffed 'Baked Potato Croquette,' packed with creamy mashed potatoes and bacon bits- bound to enliven taste buds.

Guy's next stop is at an unsuspecting Tex Mex spot in Wakefield, Rhode Island, called Tio Mateo's. This rising star boasts of vibrant and authentic Mexican cuisine, such as chicken tinga nachos, stacked enchiladas, and tacos al pastor. Guy is particularly impressed by the restaurant's Chorizo Burrito, jam-packed with bold Mexican flavors such as guacamole, cilantro rice and pico de gallo, topped with cheese and lettuce.

Guy then heads to San Francisco's Excelsior district visiting the classic and casual eatery, The Front Porch, known for its low-country cuisine. The unwavering passion and sheer love for food are evident in the classic southern dishes served here such as fried pickles and po' boy sandwiches filled with Louisiana hot link sausage. Guy is left in awe by the restaurant's classic hush puppies served with remoulade sauce.

Finally, Guy pays a visit to Shoofly Diner in the artistic town of Belmar, New Jersey. This diner may serve classic American foods, however, its menu holds incredible and innovative twists that remain unmatched. Guy is impressed by their Hot Pastrami Sandwich served on a homemade pretzel roll and a unique Fried Fluffernutter Sandwich served with chocolate milk. Additionally, Shoofly Diner takes the classic chicken 'n waffles and turns up the heat with a jalapeno cream corn waffle, served alongside a Jamaican beef patty Benedict.

In summary, the Big Time Flavor episode leaves the audience floored with the incredible combination of flavors, authentic cuisines, and original dishes. From Ohio to New York, New Orleans to California, the episode offers an incredible range of mouth-watering culinary delights guaranteed to satisfy every taste bud.
