In season 2014 episode 17 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, titled "Roadtrippin' in Beantown," host Guy Fieri makes his way to the historic city of Boston, Massachusetts for a culinary adventure like no other.

First stop on the road trip is a visit to The Avenue Grill, a quaint diner-style restaurant located in the heart of the trendy Allston neighborhood. Guy kicks things off with a taste of their signature meatloaf, which is loaded with bacon and topped with a tangy glaze made from apple cider vinegar and ketchup. He follows that up with a sampling of their fried chicken, which is cooked to perfection and served with a side of creamy mac and cheese.

Next up, Guy visits Stash's Pizza in Dorchester, a beloved local pizza joint that's been serving up classic pies since 1974. Guy chats with owner Billy Stash, who shares his secrets for making the perfect thin crust pizza using the freshest ingredients. Guy samples the classic cheese and pepperoni pies and is blown away by the quality and flavor.

Moving on to dessert, Guy heads to the South End neighborhood to check out Flour Bakery + Café, a cozy spot known for its decadent pastries and desserts. Owner and pastry chef Joanne Chang gives Guy a tour of the kitchen and shows him how she makes their famous sticky buns, which are loaded with brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans. Guy also indulges in some of their other specialties, including lemon tarts, chocolate hazelnut eclairs, and the "Joanne Chang Special," a delicious sandwich made with homemade bread, bacon, avocado, and tomato.

Finally, Guy wraps up the road trip by heading to The Friendly Toast, an iconic diner that's been serving up breakfast favorites since 2005. Guy chats with owner and chef Travis Talbot, who shares some of the restaurant's quirky history, including the time they hosted a "zombie night" where all the servers dressed up as the undead. Guy samples some of the restaurant's signature dishes, including the "Mama Syl's Meatloaf," which is made with a spicy chili glaze and served with mashed potatoes and gravy.

With a belly full of delicious food and a newfound appreciation for Boston's diverse culinary scene, Guy bids farewell to the city with fond memories and a promise to return soon.
