Goin' International, the ninth episode of the 2017 season of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, takes viewers on a culinary tour around the world with host Guy Fieri as he visits some of the most delectable international eateries across America.
Starting off in Bakersfield, California, Guy meets up with the owners of a Mexican restaurant who have been dishing out authentic recipes for over 20 years. He tries their signature stuffed chicken and handmade salsa, and also samples some of their excellent margaritas.
The next stop on the tour is a Brazilian steakhouse in St. Louis, Missouri, where Guy learns about the unique gaucho style of cooking and tries their juicy, flame-grilled meats. He also checks out their expertly crafted caipirinhas, a classic Brazilian cocktail.
Moving on to Honolulu, Hawaii, Guy discovers a family-owned Japanese eatery that specializes in donburi, or rice bowls. He tries their spicy tuna and salmon bowls, and also samples some of their specialty sushi rolls. The restaurant's owner shows Guy how to make their signature poke sauces and marinades.
In Charleston, South Carolina, Guy visits a cozy French bistro with a menu inspired by the owner's travels through France. He tries their delicious escargot, mussels, and a classic French onion soup, and then learns how to make their famous crepes with a variety of sweet and savory fillings.
In the last stop of the episode, Guy travels to Houston, Texas, to visit an Indian restaurant that prides itself on their flavorful spices and unique combinations of spices. He tries their succulent lamb chops, creamy butter chicken, and spicy vindaloo, and also learns how to cook their fragrant biryani.
Throughout the episode, viewers get to see not only the mouth-watering dishes that Guy samples, but also the stories and inspirations behind each restaurant's cuisine. Goin' International is a fascinating look at the diverse and delicious international food scene right here in America.
