Ep 18. East-West Flavorfest

In season 23 episode 18 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Guy Fieri is on a mission to showcase the best East-West flavor fusions across America. With a combination of Asian and American cuisine, Guy travels across different states to explore the unique blend of flavors that can be found in each dish.

The episode kicks off with Guy stopping by a California restaurant that specializes in Korean-style barbecue. He meets the owner-chef, who shows him how they prepare their signature dish, beef short ribs. Guy gets to try the melt-in-your-mouth ribs, which are marinated in soy sauce, ginger, and garlic before being grilled to perfection.

Next up is a Filipino restaurant in Las Vegas that serves up some unique dishes. Guy tries the classic pork dish, lechon, which is cooked whole and served with a sweet and spicy sauce. He also gets a taste of the restaurant's fusion creations, including a dish called "Sisig 2.0," which is made with crispy pork belly and octopus.

In Denver, Guy visits a restaurant that combines Korean and Mexican flavors. He tries their Korean-style tacos, which are filled with bulgogi beef and topped with pico de gallo, sour cream, and a spicy gochujang sauce. He also samples their spicy pork dumplings and their kimchi fried rice.

Moving on to Austin, Guy stops by a Filipino-fusion truck. He gets to taste their famous "Texas Bowl," which features deep-fried chicken and pork adobo served over rice with a creamy sauce and a side of pickles. He also tries their lumpia, which are Filipino-style egg rolls filled with ground pork and vegetables.

Finally, Guy makes his way to Hawaii to try some East-West fusion dishes at a local restaurant. He tries their garlic shrimp, which is flavored with butter, lemon, and garlic, as well as their poke bowl, which features traditional Hawaiian poke with a Korean-inspired sauce.
