In the eighth season's ninth episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, titled "By Request," host Guy Fieri takes on a brand new food adventure as he travels across the United States and visits some of the most famous locales suggested by viewers. In this unique episode, Guy would be visiting restaurants that have been asked for by viewers on his social media platforms.

The episode starts with Guy visiting a favorite hometown café in Wichita, Kansas, where he is greeted by a legion of fans who can't get enough of the amazing breakfast sandwiches that the tiny restaurant churns out every morning. Guy talks to the owner about the recipe for the special marinade they use for the chicken sausage that goes into the sandwich, and then heads into the kitchen to see them in action.

From Wichita, Guy moves on to Texas, where he visits a small roadside BBQ stand that is known for some of the best brisket in the state. As he samples some of the amazing smoked meat, Guy chats with the owner about the secret blend of spices that goes into their rub, and learns how they smoke their meat to perfection in a unique, custom-built smoker.

Next up, Guy heads to Florida to explore the unique cuisine of the Sunshine State, starting with a visit to a Cuban bakery that has been serving up delicious pastries and savory treats for generations. With a wide variety of options to choose from, Guy tries a bit of everything, including Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, and guava pastries, all made fresh daily.

After a brief stop in Florida, Guy heads farther north to Philadelphia, where he visits a famous cheesesteak joint that has been serving up some of the city's best sandwiches for over 50 years. As he watches the team grill up meat, chop up onions, and melt cheese onto each sandwich, Guy marvels at the speed and precision required to make a great Philly cheesesteak.

Finally, Guy heads out to the Pacific Northwest, where he visits a small café that specializes in freshly-made crepes with a wide variety of fillings, ranging from savory to sweet. As he watches the expert crepe-makers at work, Guy samples some of the unique dishes, including a mouth-watering combination of goat cheese, spinach, and caramelized onion.

Throughout the episode, Guy gets to know the restaurant owners, their stories, and the reasons behind the dishes that make their establishments so successful. With each stop, he takes in the unique atmosphere of each location and really gets a feel for the local culture.

In typical Guy Fieri fashion, he brings his high energy personality, humor, and contagious enthusiasm to the show. As he visits each location, he interacts with the chefs, owners, and patrons, asking questions, cracking jokes, and really making a connection with the local community.
