Chipper and Rudy/Monte is the 22nd episode of the fourth season of the popular TV series Dog Whisperer. In this episode, dog behavior expert Cesar Millan helps two sets of dogs and their owners who are struggling in different ways.

The first case involves two terrier mixes named Chipper and Rudy. Their owners, a retired couple, have trouble controlling their hyperactive behavior, which includes excessive barking and jumping. Despite their small size, these dogs can be quite dominant and have a tendency to take control of the house, causing chaos and stress.

Cesar takes the dogs for a walk to assess their behavior and quickly realizes that they have a lot of pent-up energy. He recommends a daily exercise routine for them that includes brisk walks, running, and playtime, which will help them burn off this excess energy and reduce their anxiety. He also advises the owners to be more assertive and consistent with their training by using simple commands and positive reinforcement techniques.

Next up is Monte, a large, three-year-old German Shepherd with aggressive tendencies. His owner, a former Marine, is struggling to manage his behavior and is concerned that he may become dangerous around strangers and other animals. Cesar observes that Monte has a strong prey drive and is easily distracted by his surroundings, which can trigger his aggressive behavior.

To help Monte overcome his aggressive tendencies, Cesar suggests a training technique called the “calm and assertive” approach. This entails teaching the dog to respond to his owner’s clear but calm commands and body language, as well as desensitizing him to his triggers. Cesar demonstrates how to use positive reinforcement techniques such as treats and praise to encourage good behavior and discourage negative behavior, such as excessive barking or growling.

Throughout the episode, Cesar emphasizes the importance of establishing a clear hierarchy within the home and being consistent with training techniques. He advises the owners to be more assertive and confident in their interactions with their dogs, as this will help to establish trust and respect.

By the end of the episode, both sets of dogs have made significant progress in their behavior. Chipper and Rudy are calmer and more responsive to their owners’ commands, while Monte is more relaxed and less likely to exhibit aggressive behavior. The owners are happy with the progress their dogs have made, and Cesar reminds them that consistent training and exercise are essential for maintaining these positive changes.
