Vows opens with Echo (played by Eliza Dushku) waking up in the Dollhouse, surrounded by the other Actives. She is informed by Topher (Fran Kranz) that a year has passed since the events of the first season finale. Echo has been in the Dollhouse for the whole year but her mind has been wiped after each engagement.

Echo is also informed that she has been imprinted with a new persona as a happily engaged bride-to-be. The mission is a complex one and the stakes are high. Echo is sent to a small town to infiltrate the wedding of a wealthy family for a special engagement. Her mission is to retrieve the latest copy of a weaponized computer program that is held on at least one computer on the family's house network.

Echo, as a wedding dress model named Bree, meets the groom, Joe Hearn (Dichen Lachman). It becomes apparent that he is not the only one getting married as Echo meets some of the other bridesmaids. Each is as excited about her upcoming wedding as Echo is, but they all come from very different backgrounds and have different priorities. The scene is set, and the plot is beginning to unfold.

While Echo looks for the computer program, she discovers that Joe and his wealthy family have some complicated secrets. Soon, Echo discovers the truth about the groom, Joe, which forces her into a difficult choice between doing what she was programmed to do or following her instincts.

The episode reveals several twists and turns, as Echo struggles to complete her mission while also grappling with her own complicated feelings. Meanwhile, Boyd Langton (played by Harry Lennix) struggles with his new role as director of the Dollhouse, as he tries to implement changes that will make the operations more ethical.

Overall, Vows provides an exciting start to the second season of Dollhouse. The episode is a perfect balance of action, intrigue, and character development. The plot is well-crafted, keeping the audience guessing throughout. The show's larger themes, including the nature of identity and the ethics of human experimentation, are explored in more detail.

The new episode introduces several new characters into the world of Dollhouse, each with their own mysteries to unravel. It also continues the ongoing story arcs of the main characters, particularly Echo and Boyd. The season opening is packed with suspense, as well as some humor to lighten the mood.

In all, Dollhouse season 2 episode 1 Vows, is a must-watch for fans of the show. It provides a firm foundation for the season, with plenty of plot twists and new characters to dive into. With its combination of action, character development, and philosophical themes, it promises to be another great season for the show.
