Finally, Gates travels to the United States to investigate modern-day afterlife beliefs and practices. He meets with individuals who have had near-death experiences, psychic mediums, and a mortician to gain a better understanding of contemporary beliefs and rituals surrounding death, dying, and the afterlife.
