William "Uncle Bill" Davis (Brian Keith), a bachelor engineer who now works at a construction company, becomes the legal guardian of his orphaned nieces and nephew: Cissy (Kathy Garver), Jody (Johnny Whitaker), and Buffy (Anissa Jones).
