Jeff Lewis is back at it again in season 2 episode 4 of Flipping Out titled 'Closer Inspection.' In this episode, Jeff and his design team are hired to renovate a 1960s mid-century modern home in the Hollywood Hills. The house has a lot of potential but it needs to be brought up to date to truly shine. Jeff is excited as mid-century modern is his favorite style, and he's prepared to go all out to make the house perfect.
The first step is for Jeff and his team to take a closer look at the house and assess what work needs to be done. They walk around the house examining the exterior and discussing ways to update the landscaping. Jeff makes it clear that he wants the house to be visually striking from the street. He wants a new front door, a modern gate and fresh paint. Next, they head inside where Jeff's design team takes measurements and notes on what needs to be changed.
As they examine the house, they come across a big problem: termites! Jeff had not expected this, so he is taken aback by the news. He knows that dealing with termites is going to be costly, but he doesn't want to cut corners on the job. He knows that this house is worth the investment. Jeff begins to explore different options, including going through the walls to do the treatment, which would be a big job. But he's determined to find a solution that won't compromise the design of the house.
Meanwhile, Jeff's partner Ryan has some plans of his own. He's looking to get into the real estate business, and he's found a property he's interested in flipping. Jeff is skeptical. He knows firsthand how difficult flipping can be, and he's worried about Ryan taking on too much. But Ryan is sure that he can handle it, and Jeff ultimately decides to support him.
As the renovation of the mid-century modern home moves forward, tensions arise between Jeff and his contractor/best friend Andy. Andy is not thrilled when Jeff changes his mind about the color of the house, and their relationship becomes strained. Jeff knows that Andy is an important part of his team, but he's not willing to compromise on his vision for the house. Things come to a head when Jeff discovers that Andy has deviated from the agreed-upon plan and has installed a different type of plumbing. Jeff is furious and confronts him about it.
In the end, Jeff and Andy make peace and the renovation continues. The termites are treated, the house is painted the right color, and the plumbing is fixed. There are a few more hiccups along the way, but Jeff is determined to make this house a masterpiece. He pulls out all the stops on the design, incorporating mid-century modern furniture and decor throughout the house. When the job is finally done, Jeff is thrilled with the result and so are the homeowners.
Flipping Out season 2 episode 4 'Closer Inspection' is a fun and exciting look at the challenges of renovating a mid-century modern home. Jeff and his team bump up against a few obstacles along the way, but they're determined to see the job through to the end. Fans of Jeff Lewis and interior design won't want to miss this episode.
