Hercules: The Animated Series is a spin-off of the wildly popular 1997 Disney animated feature film. It first aired on ABC in 1998 and ran for two seasons, each consisting of 13 episodes. The show follows the adventures of Hercules, the son of Zeus, during his time at high school. Voiced by Tate Donovan, Hercules is a well-meaning and earnest young man who is always eager to prove himself to his father and his classmates.

The show is set in the mythical world of Ancient Greece, where gods and mortals coexist. Hercules attends Prometheus Academy, a school for the gods, demigods, and other mythical creatures. Here, he meets and befriends several new characters, including his roommate Icarus, a winged boy who has a habit of getting into trouble; Cassandra, a beautiful and intelligent mortal girl who can see the future; and Adonis, the popular and conceited demigod who is always trying to one-up Hercules.

Each episode of the show follows a different adventure or challenge that Hercules and his friends must face. Some of these are based on classic Greek myths and legends, while others are original stories. For example, in one episode, Hercules and Icarus accidentally break a magical mirror that belongs to the goddess Aphrodite. To make it up to her, they must find three rare ingredients and combine them in a special potion to fix the mirror before Aphrodite's big beauty contest. In another episode, Cassandra's prediction of a doomsday asteroid causes panic at the school, and Hercules must find a way to stop it from destroying the world.

Throughout the show, Hercules learns valuable lessons about friendship, loyalty, and responsibility. He must balance his responsibilities as a hero with his desire for a normal life, often struggling to keep his secret identity as a demigod hidden from his mortal classmates. He also faces romantic challenges, such as his unrequited crush on Cassandra, and must learn to navigate his feelings while also fulfilling his duties as a hero.

The animation style of the show is similar to that of the movie it is based on, using bright colors and exaggerated character designs to create a fun and lighthearted atmosphere. The voice acting is excellent, with Donovan bringing the same charm and likability to Hercules that he did in the movie. The supporting cast also delivers strong performances, especially Yannaris as Icarus and Kostis as Adonis.

Overall, Hercules: The Animated Series is a fun and engaging show that offers a fresh take on the classic Greek myths. It is suitable for all ages, with humor and action that will appeal to both children and adults. Fans of the movie will enjoy revisiting these beloved characters, while newcomers will find plenty to enjoy in the show's unique blend of mythology and modern high school drama.

Hercules: The Animated Series is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (65 episodes). The series first aired on August 31, 1998.
