In Highlander season 1 episode 17, titled "Saving Grace," we see the return of the character Grace Chandel (played by Beatie Edney) who was first introduced in episode 6. Grace is still living with her husband Carlo Sendaro (played by John Bennett) in Tuscany, but she has now been diagnosed with a terminal illness. She reaches out to Duncan MacLeod (played by Adrian Paul) for help in finding a cure, as she believes there is a potion that can save her life.
MacLeod agrees to help Grace, and the two embark on a journey to find the potion. They travel to Paris, where MacLeod enlists the help of his old friend and fellow immortal Hugh Fitzcairn (played by Roger Daltrey). Fitzcairn reveals that he has the potion, but he explains that it cannot be used to save Grace's life. The potion is incredibly powerful and can only be used once every thousand years, and Fitzcairn believes that it should be saved for a more important purpose.
MacLeod is conflicted about what to do. He wants to help Grace, but he also doesn't want to waste the potion on a single life when it could be used to save many more. As he considers his options, he is also dealing with the fact that Grace is still in love with him. MacLeod feels guilty about the situation, as he knows that Grace's feelings for him are complicating matters.
As they continue their search for a cure, Grace's illness worsens. MacLeod becomes increasingly desperate to find a solution, and he begins to consider using the potion to save Grace's life. However, he is interrupted by the arrival of Carlo, who has discovered their location and is extremely angry. Carlo is aware of immortals and believes that MacLeod is the reason for Grace's illness.
MacLeod and Carlo engage in a fight, but Carlo is quickly defeated. As he lies dying, he tells MacLeod that he loves Grace and that he wants her to be happy. MacLeod realizes that Grace's happiness is more important than using the potion, and he decides to give it to her. Grace is initially skeptical, but she ultimately agrees to drink the potion.
As the episode ends, we see Grace recovering from her illness and MacLeod saying goodbye to her. He knows that their relationship cannot continue, as it would only cause more pain for both of them. However, he is glad that he was able to help her and that she can now live the rest of her life without fear.

It showcases the complex relationships between the characters and the difficult choices they must make in order to do what is right.
