Hot Bench Season 4 Episode 11 Babysitter Kidnapping and Ransom?!

  • September 18, 2017

In Hot Bench season 4 episode 11 titled "Babysitter Kidnapping and Ransom?!", Judge Patricia DiMango and judges Tanya Acker and Michael Corriero preside over three separate cases presented by litigants seeking resolution to a variety of legal disputes.

The first case centers around a babysitter who is accused of kidnapping two young children. The children's mother, a lawyer herself, argues that the babysitter knowingly took her children without permission and demanded a ransom for their safe return. The babysitter, who maintains her innocence, claims that she was only trying to protect the children from their mother's abusive boyfriend. The judges must sift through the testimony and evidence presented and determine whether the babysitter is guilty of kidnapping and extortion.

In the second case, a tenant accuses her landlord of illegally evicting her from her apartment, claiming that the landlord shut off her utilities and changed the locks without proper notice or legal process. The landlord argues that the tenant had been violating the terms of the lease and that he was within his rights to terminate the tenancy. As the judges listen to both sides, they must determine whether the landlord's actions were legal and whether the tenant is owed any compensation for her abrupt eviction and disruption of her life.

Finally, a woman sues her friend and former business partner for breach of contract, claiming that the friend failed to pay her agreed-upon share of the profits from their joint business venture. However, the friend argues that the woman did not fulfill her part of the contract by failing to provide the level of service she promised, and that the business ultimately failed because of the woman's poor performance. The judges must weigh the conflicting claims and evidence to determine whether either party is owed any money and whether the contract was breached.

Throughout the episode, the judges rely on their extensive legal knowledge and experience to ask insightful questions, challenge assumptions, and arrive at fair and just decisions. They demonstrate a passion for justice and a genuine concern for the individuals whose cases they are considering, as they strive to provide clarity and resolution to complex legal disputes.
