Hot Bench Season 6 Episode 15 Innocent Targets of New York Scam?!; I Am Not a Racist!

  • September 20, 2019

In this episode of Hot Bench, entitled "Innocent Targets of New York Scam?!; I Am Not a Racist!", Judge Tanya Acker presides over a case involving a couple who was scammed out of thousands of dollars by a fraudulent business in New York. The couple claims that they were lured into investing their money in a property development project that turned out to be a complete scam. The defendants, who are the business owners, argue that they had no intention of defrauding anyone and that the couple should have been more careful with their money.

Meanwhile, Judge Patricia DiMango hears a case involving a landlord who is being accused of racial discrimination by one of his tenants. The tenant claims that she was denied the opportunity to rent an apartment because of her race, but the landlord denies the allegations and insists that he has never discriminated against anyone. With both parties adamant in their positions, Judge DiMango must determine the truth and deliver a verdict that is fair and just for everyone involved.

As the cases unfold, the judges are forced to dig deep into the evidence presented and carefully consider the testimonies of all the parties involved. With emotions running high and tensions rising in the courtroom, it becomes clear that both cases are far from simple and will require a considerable amount of deliberation before a verdict can be reached.

As Judge Acker listens to the evidence in the scam case, she becomes increasingly frustrated with the defendants, who seem to be evasive and uncooperative throughout the trial. Despite their protestations of innocence, Judge Acker is convinced that they are guilty of fraud and imposes a hefty penalty on them in order to compensate the innocent couple who were victimized by their scam.

Meanwhile, Judge DiMango is equally frustrated with the landlord in the racial discrimination case, who seems to be in denial about his actions. However, after hearing all the testimony, she is able to determine that there is no concrete evidence to support the tenant's accusations and rules in favor of the landlord, much to the frustration of the tenant.

In the end, both cases illustrate the complex and often difficult nature of justice, and how it can be difficult to determine the truth in situations where emotions are high and there are competing interests at stake. The judges must take all the evidence into account and make a decision that is both fair and just, even if it means disappointing one of the parties involved.
