Ep 22. The Beauty That Is

Kelly continues to see her therapist, Dr. Raston, but she’s not sure if she’s making any progress. She’s having trouble letting go of her guilt for sleeping with Alex while he was still married to Esperanza. In an effort to distract herself, Kelly takes her daughter, Justice, to the park where she meets a new mom, Sharon. They bond over their shared experiences of being single mothers. Meanwhile, Randal is still reeling from the revelation that his father is not actually his biological father. He confronts his mother about it, but she refuses to give him any answers and tells him to leave her house. Brad’s brother, Drew, shows up unexpectedly and tells him that he needs money for a business venture. Brad is hesitant to give Drew the money, but Alex tells him to go ahead and do it. Alex also confides in Brad that he’s still in love with Kelly and can’t stop thinking about her. Brad advises Alex to tell Kelly how he feels before it’s too late. Back at the park, Kelly and Sharon are having a good time until a group of kids start teasing Justice because of her hearing aid. Kelly is furious and confronts the kids and their parents. Later, Kelly talks to Esperanza and apologizes for what happened between her and Alex. Esperanza accepts her apology and tells her that she’s moving on with her life. Meanwhile, Natalie goes to see Lushion at the police station to ask him about Eddie’s case. Lushion tells her that Eddie was transferred to another facility and that he can’t say anything else about it. Natalie is frustrated but determined to find out the truth about what happened to Eddie. Alex finally gathers the courage to tell Kelly how he feels and they both confess their love for each other. Just as they are about to kiss, Brad walks in and sees them together. He’s furious and tells Alex to leave his house. The episode ends with Kelly and Alex standing outside, unsure of what to do next.
