Ep 1. Nanami Becomes a God

Nanami, a high school girl, is facing a tough time as she struggles to make ends meet after her father's gambling addictions leave her and her family in debt. One day, she finds a strange man being harassed by a dog and ends up rescuing him. The man, who introduces himself as Mikage, is actually a god and explains that he is visiting Earth to look for a replacement for himself as the ruler of a local shrine.

After helping Mikage, he offers to let her stay at the shrine but, upon arrival, Nanami quickly realizes the enormous responsibility that comes with being a god. She also discovers that the shrine's previous god, a fox spirit named Tomoe, is not at all happy to have a human girl replace his former master. Despite his gruff exterior, Tomoe is skilled in handling the power of the shrine and becomes Nanami's reluctant mentor.

As Nanami begins her training to become a god, she must not only learn how to use her powers but also how to gain the respect and trust of the local yokai, supernatural beings also living at the shrine. She also finds herself developing feelings for Tomoe, but he is fiercely loyal to his previous master and harbors a deep resentment towards humans.

In this first episode of Kamisama Kiss, viewers are introduced to the fantastical world of gods, yokai, and the humans caught in between. Nanami's journey to become a deity is filled with danger, humor, and romance as she navigates the tricky waters of divine politics and learns the true meaning of responsibility. Will she be able to prove herself as a worthy successor to Mikage and win over the stubborn Tomoe? Only time will tell.
