Whitney Thore takes on the Big Apple in My Big Fat Fabulous Life season 4 episode 11, titled "Big Girl in the Big Apple." The episode follows Whitney as she travels to New York City to promote her "No Body Shame" campaign and engage with her social media followers.
At the outset of the episode, Whitney lands in the city and heads straight to her hotel in Lower Manhattan. There, she meets up with her assistant and production team to discuss the itinerary for the next few days. Whitney is excited to be in the city and mentions that she's always wanted to spend more time there.
The first order of business is a photo shoot with a popular plus-size blogger. The shoot takes place in a studio, where Whitney models several different outfits and talks about her message of body positivity. She explains that "No Body Shame" is all about accepting yourself as you are and recognizing that everybody is beautiful.
Later on, Whitney meets up with a group of fans who have won a contest to have dinner with her. They gather at a trendy restaurant in Midtown and start chatting about their experiences with body shaming. Whitney encourages them to be proud of who they are and shares some of her own journey toward self-love.
The next day, Whitney heads to the subway to film an episode of her "Big Girl in a Skinny World" YouTube series. She walks through Times Square and talks about the challenges of navigating the city as a plus-size woman. She also interviews a few New Yorkers about their thoughts on body acceptance and receives mostly positive responses.
As the day goes on, Whitney juggles a few different events. She speaks at a conference for plus-size fashion designers, does a live Q&A on Instagram, and meets up with a fellow body-positive activist for lunch. Throughout all of these activities, she maintains her positive attitude and charms everyone she meets.
The episode concludes with Whitney back in her hotel room, reflecting on the trip. She comments that New York City made her feel alive and gave her a renewed sense of purpose. She vows to continue spreading her message of body acceptance and hopes to inspire more people to love themselves just the way they are.
