Ep 2. Bringing Down the Haus

In Mystery Diners season 1 episode 2, titled "Bringing Down the Haus", Charles Stiles and his team of undercover operatives are hired by Gabe and Katherine, the owners of The Wiener Haus in Pasadena, California. The couple is having issues with their employees, who they suspect are giving away food to their friends and family without charging them.

Charles and his crew set up hidden cameras throughout the restaurant and send in two mystery diners, Mike and Vanessa, who pose as a couple celebrating their anniversary. As they dine on hot dogs and french fries, they observe the service and interactions between the staff.

Soon, the mystery diners notice some suspicious behavior from a server named Eddie. He is seen sneaking food to a group of young men who are not paying for their meals. Mike and Vanessa take note of the details and report back to Charles, who sends in the rest of his team to investigate further.

Over the course of a few days, the team gathers more evidence of employee theft. They discover that Eddie is not the only culprit – another employee named Michelle is also giving away food to her friends and family.

With the evidence in hand, Charles confronts Gabe and Katherine with the findings. The couple is shocked and saddened to learn that their employees have been stealing from them. However, they are grateful to Charles and his team for bringing the issue to light and providing a solution.

Charles meets with the employees in question and gives them an ultimatum – they must pay back the restaurant for all the stolen food or face legal action. Eddie and Michelle both agree to repay the money, and they are let go from their positions at The Wiener Haus.

In the end, Gabe and Katherine are relieved to have resolved the issue and are grateful to Charles and his team for their help. The Wiener Haus can now run smoothly without the threat of employee theft, and Mike and Vanessa can enjoy their anniversary dinner without any further disturbances.
