As they explore Slateport City, our heroes run into their old friend, Drew, who is also participating in the Ribbon Cup with his Roselia. May is thrilled to see Drew again, and they both eagerly look forward to facing each other in the competition. However, Drew seems strangely secretive about his strategy and team, which makes May suspicious.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is up to their usual tricks. They have their sights set on stealing the Ribbon Cup, hoping to sell it for a hefty profit. As they come up with their plan, they run into the vain and pompous Team Magma, who are also planning to steal the Ribbon Cup in order to showcase their power and superiority.

As the Ribbon Cup gets underway, the competition is fierce. May and her partner, Skitty, perform flawlessly and are among the top contenders. Drew and his Roselia also impress the judges with their skills, and it becomes clear that the final round will be between May and Drew. However, things take a turn for the worse when Team Rocket and Team Magma both show up to steal the Ribbon Cup.

In the ensuing chaos, the Ribbon Cup is stolen, and both teams blame each other for the theft. As Ash and his friends try to figure out what happened, they stumble upon a clue that leads them to Drew's hotel room. May becomes convinced that Drew stole the Ribbon Cup, but he claims to be innocent. Together, they all set out to catch the real thieves and clear Drew's name.

In the end, Ash, May, and Drew work together to foil Team Rocket and Team Magma's plans and retrieve the stolen Ribbon Cup.
