Pokemon Season 8 Episode 44 Hooked on Onix

Ash, Brock, and May are exploring the rock formations of the valley. They come across an Onix, which Brock identifies as an alpha male. Team Rocket is spying on the group and see the Onix as an opportunity to get rich. They lure the Onix into a trap and plan to sell it to the highest bidder. Ash and his friends stumble upon the trap and try to free the Onix. The Onix is too heavy for them to lift, so they decide to put on a show for it to distract it while Pikachu sneaks up to cut the vines.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is arguing over who should get credit for catching the Onix. They launch a barrage of attacks at the group, but they are all deflected by the Onix's hardened rock exterior. The Onix becomes enraged and starts to attack the group. Ash tries to calm it down by having Pikachu use Thunderbolt, which only angers it more. May suggests using food to calm it down, so they take some apples from their lunch and toss them to the Onix. The Onix eats the apples and calms down.

The group decides to follow the Onix back to its home, which is a giant valley full of Onix. Brock is thrilled at the opportunity to see so many Onix in one place. They meet a group of Onix elders who tell them that the valley is facing a shortage of food due to a recent earthquake. The Onix elders ask Ash and his friends for help in finding a new food source.

The group decides to help and splits up to search for food. Ash, Pikachu, and May go searching by the river and find a school of Magikarp. They try to catch some, but they are too weak to be of any use as food. Meanwhile, Brock and Max are looking for food in the mountains and come across a group of Bagon. Brock decides to catch one to use as bait for the Onix.

Back in the valley, the Onix elders are getting impatient for the group to return with food. Team Rocket appears and tries to capture the Onix again. Jessie attempts to lure the Onix with a giant sandwich, but the Onix sees through their plan and attacks them. The group shows up just in time to save Team Rocket from the angry Onix.

Brock uses the Bagon as bait to lure a Salamence, which he catches. He brings it back to the valley as a food source for the Onix. The Onix elders are grateful and allow the group to stay in the valley for the night. They tell stories about the history of the valley and the legendary Pokémon that once lived there. Ash and his friends fall asleep, dreaming of the adventures they will have the next day in the valley filled with Onix and other remarkable Pokémon.
