Ep 1. Not Exactly How We Planned

James "Ghost" St. Patrick, a successful nightclub owner in New York City, is living a double life. He is a dedicated family man to his wife, Tasha, and their children, but he is also a drug dealer for a powerful criminal organization led by his childhood friend, Tommy Egan. In the first episode, "Not Exactly How We Planned," Ghost struggles to maintain his balance between both worlds.

As the episode opens, we see Ghost preparing for a night at his club, Truth, which is also a front for his drug business. He is interrupted by a phone call from his wife, who asks him to pick up their daughter from a friend's house. On his way home, Ghost meets up with Tommy, who is frustrated with their latest drug shipment. Their supplier, Ruiz, has been skimming product, and Tommy wants to kill him. Ghost tries to reason with Tommy to find another solution, but Tommy is set on violence.

The next day, Ghost receives a visit from his former flame, Angela Valdes, who is now an assistant United States Attorney. Angela is investigating the drug organization that Ghost works for, and she believes that he is involved. Ghost denies any involvement and tells her that he is just a nightclub owner. Angela seems to believe him and leaves, but Ghost knows that she will not give up easily.

Meanwhile, Tasha is dealing with her own problems. She has a confrontation with Shawn, her husband's protégé, who has been living with the family for the past year. Tasha feels that Shawn is becoming too comfortable and that he needs to focus more on his work. Shawn, who has feelings for Tasha, tries to convince her that he is committed to the job.

The tension between Ghost and Tommy comes to a head when they meet with Ruiz to confront him about the stolen product. The meeting goes bad, and they end up killing Ruiz in self-defense. Ghost is shaken by the violence and begins to question if this is the life he wants. Tommy, on the other hand, seems energized by the killing and wants to use it to take over the drug organization.

As the episode comes to a close, Ghost returns home to find Tasha in bed with Shawn. He is angry and hurt but does not confront them. Instead, he goes to his nightclub and drinks alone, reflecting on his life and his choices.

"Not Exactly How We Planned" sets up the complex world of Power, where loyalty and betrayal are constant themes. The characters are flawed but compelling, and their struggles are relatable even in the context of organized crime. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, leaving the audience eager to see what happens next.
