Tsukimi and Kuranosuke are back to brainstorming on the designs for their Jellyfish fashion line. Meanwhile, Kuranosuke introduces Tsukimi to his older brother Shu, who is the proprietor of their family's business, a famous department store. Shu, who has a reputation for being a ladies' man, is reluctant to meet Tsukimi at first but eventually grows fond of her.
In this episode, we see the Midnight Pureboy - an iconic male model and actor of their time, visiting the department store for a press conference. Midnight Pureboy catches Shu and Kuranosuke's attention as they see a business opportunity with Midnight endorsing their Jellyfish fashion line. They meet Midnight and his team and suggest working together to launch the collection.
However, the whole meeting takes an unexpected turn when they find out that Midnight is a complete germaphobe and is allergic to jellyfish. The boys are taken aback by this revelation but still see an opportunity in working with Midnight.
The story then follows them as they try to find a way to change Midnight's opinion about jellyfish and convince him to endorse their line. As the team tries to come up with ideas, Tsukimi has her usual jellyfish-induced daydream where she imagines herself befriending Midnight and making him realize the beauty in jellyfish.
In the meantime, the Amars are dealing with their own issues. Mayaya discovers that Banba and Jiji have a secret stash of romantic novels. As Mayaya reads the novels, she gets lost in the world of romance and starts looking for love herself. She even goes on a date with a boy but realizes that reality is quite different from the novels.
The episode ends with the team successfully convincing Midnight to endorse their line. Tsukimi is excited about the success but still feels guilty that she has to hide her real identity from Midnight and not be able to tell him about her love for jellyfish.
Overall, Princess Jellyfish season 1 episode 9 is an enjoyable episode that highlights the contrast between the world of fashion and the everyday struggles of the Amars. It shows the importance of being true to oneself and accepting others for who they are. Midnight's allergy to jellyfish is used as a plot device to highlight how sometimes our fears and prejudices can be unfounded, and it takes a little effort to change our perspective. The episode also adds a touch of humor with the Amars discovering Banba and Jiji's romantic novels, following their unique characters and their different journeys.
