Ep 2. Lovesick

In the second episode of the second season of Royal Pains, titled "Lovesick," we see Hank and Divya dealing with fairly different cases this time around.

Hank attends to the romantic woes of his old friend, Elliot, who is struggling with a myriad of medical issues that keep arising every time he gets involved with a new girl. Elliot is extremely unlucky in love, and it seems like his string of unfortunate events is only getting worse.

Meanwhile, Divya takes on the case of a lawyer who is undergoing a melt-down because of an intense mental condition. She has been having bouts of uncontrollable emotions, crying hysterically at the most inconvenient of times and is struggling to keep her work and personal life in control.

As Hank's story develops, we see him trying to help Elliot figure out what is causing his health issues, and why he keeps falling sick every time he tries to pursue his love interest. The investigation includes a trip down the memory lane to discover Elliot's past medical history and to rule out any underlying conditions that might be the root cause of his problem.

There are a few comedic moments throughout the episode, with Hank's attempts to help Elliot getting increasingly hilarious as they progress. Despite the light-hearted scenes, however, we see that Elliot really is struggling and is in genuine need of Hank's help.

Meanwhile, Divya's case is less comedic- we watch her struggle to deal with her patient's waves of intense emotions and often feeling helpless as she watches the lawyer's condition worsen and her career begin to crumble.

At the end of the episode, we see the culmination of both storylines, with Hank finally figuring out what is causing Elliot's illness, and Divya making an important decision about her patient's treatment.

Overall, "Lovesick" is a well-crafted episode that showcases some fantastic performances from the cast. It's an engaging story with a good balance of humor and drama and it's a great addition to the show's long-running series.
