In "Me First," the ninth episode of the third season of Royal Pains, the focus is on a patient who is a competitive athlete and a bit obsessed with winning. However, his intense drive has led to some major health concerns that require the expertise of Dr. Hank Lawson and his team.

The athlete in question, Tyler, is a triathlete who is gearing up for a major competition. However, he begins to experience chest pain and dizziness during a training session, and is rushed to the hospital. Hank and Divya are assigned to Tyler's case, and quickly realize that his relentless training regimen and extreme competitive streak have taken a toll on his body. In order to get him back on track and ready for the big race, they must find a way to alleviate his symptoms and help him regain his strength.

As they work to diagnose Tyler's condition, Hank and Divya must also contend with some personal challenges. Divya's mother is in town, and is putting pressure on her to find a husband and start a family. Meanwhile, Hank is dealing with the fallout from his breakup with Jill, and is struggling to move on and focus on his work.

The episode also features some interesting plot developments for the supporting characters. Evan takes on a new business venture, but finds himself struggling to keep up with the competition. Meanwhile, Boris continues to scheme and plot, and seems to have his eyes on a new target.
