Taboo Tattoo is a 2016 anime series produced by J.C. Staff and directed by Takashi Watanabe. The show takes place in a world where superhuman abilities are bestowed upon individuals through tattoos called "tatts" or "Taboo Tattoos". The story follows Seigi, a martial arts enthusiast who receives a strange tattoo from a stranger after saving his life. The tattoo, which gives him superhuman strength and the ability to manipulate matter, marks him as a part of a secret organization called "The Army of the Kingdom". Seigi is quickly drawn into a world of political intrigue and violence as he tries to navigate his new abilities and the power struggles surrounding him.

The series has an impressive voice acting cast, with Monica Rial as Princess Aryabhata, the leader of the army, Justin Briner as Seigi, and Christopher Bevins as BB, a mysterious figure who is associated with the army. The main characters are well-developed, with Seigi struggling to come to terms with his new abilities and the responsibility that comes with them, while Princess Aryabhata is shown to have a complicated past that informs her actions in the present.

The animation in Taboo Tattoo is top-notch, with the fight scenes being particularly well-animated and exciting to watch. The use of vibrant colors and unique character designs make the show visually appealing, and the world-building is well done, with a number of different organizations and factions introduced throughout the series.

One of the standout features of Taboo Tattoo is the soundtrack, which is composed by Shinji Hosoe (Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Street Fighter X Tekken) and features a number of catchy and memorable tracks that add to the overall atmosphere of the show. The OP and ED songs are also fantastic, with an upbeat rock track opening the show and a slower, more emotional track closing it.

Overall, Taboo Tattoo is a must-watch for anime fans who enjoy action-packed shows with well-developed characters and intriguing world-building. The show offers a unique take on the superhero genre, with the tattoos providing an interesting twist on the traditional powerset. The animation and soundtrack are both top-notch, and the voice acting is excellent.
