Ep 12. Killing Fields

As a psychic and a homicide detective team up to investigate unexplained phenomena, The Dead Files season 10 episode 12, "Killing Fields," takes them to a charming small town in Indiana where paranormal activity stirs up trouble.

The episode begins with retired NYPD homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi meeting with the homeowner, who's a police officer himself. The officer has been experiencing strange occurrences in his home, such as objects moving on their own, footsteps in empty rooms, and apparitions appearing at the foot of his bed. He believes the activity is linked to an unsolved triple homicide that happened in the town back in the '80s. Steve listens intently to the officer's account of events before meeting up with his psychic partner, Amy Allan.

As they walk through the town, Amy immediately senses the presence of a dark entity that's been feeding off the town's energy for decades. She explains to Steve that the killer responsible for the triple homicide was just a pawn in a much larger, sinister operation that's been happening in the area since the 19th century. The entity has been using the town's past to fuel its own desires.

Steve and Amy take a tour of the old crime scene, and as soon as they walk in, Amy is hit with a wave of energy that almost knocks her off her feet. She sees images of the killer and his victims, and she explains to Steve that the entity has been manipulating the town into keeping the case unsolved. The longer the case remains unsolved, the more energy it provides for the entity to feed off.

The pair conducts an investigation to gather evidence, which sends them to the local police department to look over the files from that time. They discover crucial information that had previously gone unnoticed and move on to interview local residents who were around at the time of the murders. Amy also links the killings to a series of other unexplained deaths and murders that have taken place over the years, implying a much larger and more sinister plan.

As the episode progresses, the intensity of the paranormal activity only increases, and the team has to race against time to unearth the truth behind the entity and what it hopes to achieve. The entity's ability to manipulate the town's history and keep everyone in the dark poses a risk not just to the current residents but also to anyone who's ever lived there.

The episode's conclusion, as always, is what makes The Dead Files stand out. Steve and Amy lay out all their findings and present them to the homeowner and a historian, bringing closure to the unsolved crime and opening a path to a new future for the town. However, as in previous episodes of The Dead Files, the team's findings aren't always well-received, leading to a cliffhanger in an episode that explores some of the darkest secrets in America's heartland.
