Host Tyler Florence meets the teams at Centennial Park, where they receive their challenge: create a dish that showcases Nashville's unique flavor and sell it to local street performers. The twist: they must incorporate a special secret ingredient into their meal, revealed to be hot chicken, one of Nashville's iconic dishes. Each team is given $200 to buy ingredients and 3 hours to prep and cook.
As the teams hit the grocery stores, tensions rise as they struggle to find the right ingredients and navigate the unfamiliar city. Some teams choose to stick with traditional hot chicken, while others opt for more creative interpretations, such as hot chicken tacos or biscuits.
Once the cooking is done, the trucks head to Broadway, the heart of Nashville's downtown entertainment district, to sell to street musicians and tourists alike. Team Pop-A-Waffle struggles to draw in customers, while Nonna's Kitchenette and Seoul Sausage thrive with their unique takes on hot chicken.
As the day comes to a close, the teams gather at Belle Meade Plantation for the elimination ceremony. The judges praise several of the teams' dishes, but ultimately, one team is sent home.
