In the Season 4 premiere of The Steve Harvey Show, entitled "Detention Peddler," Steve welcomes a group of high school students and their guidance counselor to the show. The students are part of a program called "Connect," which aims to improve their grades and overall academic performance.

The episode opens with Steve introducing the students, who are all wearing matching t-shirts with the program's logo. He then brings out their guidance counselor, Ms. Johnson, who explains that the students in the program are all at risk of falling behind in school or dropping out altogether.

Ms. Johnson tells Steve that one of the biggest challenges the program faces is keeping students engaged and motivated. She says that many of the students come from difficult home situations and don't see the value in staying in school.

Steve asks the students what they think the biggest challenge is, and they all agree that it's staying out of trouble. One student, named Marcus, says that he's been in and out of detention his whole life and that it's hard to stay focused on school when you're constantly getting into trouble.

Steve acknowledges that detention can be a vicious cycle, with students getting in trouble and then falling behind in school, which leads to more trouble. He says that he has an idea to help break that cycle, but first, he wants to hear more from the students.

The next student to speak is a girl named Lisa, who says that she struggles with math and often feels like giving up. As Lisa talks, Steve notices that she's wearing a bracelet that says "I AM SMART" on it. He asks her about the bracelet, and she tells him that Ms. Johnson gave it to her as a reminder that she is capable of succeeding.

Steve is impressed with the bracelet and says that he has a similar idea for the students. He says that he's going to create a set of "I Am" cards, which will have positive affirmations on them, like "I Am Capable" and "I Am Confident." The students will be encouraged to carry the cards with them and use them as reminders of their inner strength.

Ms. Johnson loves the idea and says that she thinks it will be really helpful for the students. Steve then asks the students if they have any questions for him. One boy asks Steve how he stayed motivated when he was in high school, and Steve tells him that he had a dream of becoming a comedian and that he worked hard every day to make that dream a reality.

The conversation turns back to detention, and Steve says that he wants the students to think about detention differently. Instead of seeing it as punishment, Steve suggests that they use detention as an opportunity to learn and grow.

He tells the students that he's going to create a program called "Detention University," which will be a series of classes held during detention hours. The classes will cover topics like financial literacy, public speaking, and interview skills.

The students are skeptical at first, but Steve tells them that he's going to bring in some expert teachers and that the classes will be fun and engaging. He also promises that if they complete the program, he will give them each a special certificate of achievement.

As the students leave the stage, Steve reminds them to stay focused on their goals and to use the "I Am" cards as a reminder of their inner strength. He ends the show by saying, "Remember, you are capable of greatness. Believe in yourself and keep pushing forward."

Overall, "Detention Peddler" is an inspiring episode that highlights the struggles many students face in school and the importance of finding creative solutions to keep them motivated and engaged. Steve's "Detention University" program is a great example of how to turn a negative experience into a positive one and provide students with valuable skills and knowledge.
