Ep 1. Surf, Sun and Sweets

In season 6 episode 1 of Unique Sweets titled "Surf, Sun and Sweets," viewers are taken on a culinary journey along the coast of California in search of the most unique beach-inspired sweets. First up is a visit to Venice Beach's Nighthawk Breakfast Bar, known for their innovative breakfast creations. Chef Greg Schroeppel shows off their signature dish- a stack of pancakes topped with bacon, eggs, and banana caramel sauce- as well as their unique twist on a classic French cruller donut. Their version is injected with a strawberry jam and sprinkled with Pop Rocks for a fizzy, fun experience.

Next, viewers head north towards Santa Barbara to check out Farmer Boy, a family-owned farm and bakery. Here, guests can purchase freshly picked berries, vegetables, and eggs as well as enjoy homemade pastries. Co-owner Teresa Romero shares her recipe for blueberry lemon scones, using only the freshest ingredients from the farm.

Lastly, viewers are taken to the famous Santa Monica Pier to visit Pacific Park's Funnel Cake Factory, where guests can indulge in classic funnel cakes with various toppings and flavors. Owner/operator Alina Hardcastle walks through their signature dish- a funnel cake sundae with ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream- as well as other specialty items like a savory garlic and herb funnel cake topped with goat cheese and honey.

Throughout the episode, each shop highlights their commitment to using fresh, quality ingredients and creating unique concoctions that keep customers coming back for more. Surf, sun, and sweets collide in this delicious adventure along the California coast.
