Ep 24. The Deadly Triad

Gourmet challenges Yusuke to a one-on-one fight, warning him that he is invincible and that no one has ever defeated him.

The two engage in a fierce battle, with Gourmet showing off his incredible strength and speed. Yusuke soon realizes that Gourmet's power comes from his massive appetite, and he decides to take advantage of this weakness. He leads Gourmet through the city, offering him various human foods along the way. Eventually, Gourmet becomes so full that he can no longer fight, and Yusuke is able to defeat him.

Next, the trio sets out to find Seiryu. They soon find themselves in a strange forest where Seiryu's illusions are in full effect. Yusuke and Kuwabara are quickly separated, and each is forced to face their greatest fears. Yusuke must confront the fact that he may be responsible for his mother's death, while Kuwabara faces the prospect of losing his sister. The two eventually realize that their fears are just illusions and are able to break free.

Meanwhile, Botan faces off against Seiryu himself. She realizes that Seiryu's illusions are only effective if the victim believes in them, so she decides to act like she believes them. Seiryu is eventually defeated when Botan destroys his artifact, which is the source of his power.

Finally, the trio faces off against Byakko. They find him in a massive arena surrounded by his loyal followers. Byakko challenges Yusuke to a fight, warning him that he is the strongest of the Deadly Triad. Yusuke accepts the challenge, and the two engage in a brutal battle. Byakko proves to be an incredibly tough opponent, but Yusuke eventually finds a way to defeat him.
