Terry McGinnis, the current Batman of Gotham, is tasked with apprehending a dangerous thief who has been stealing high-tech equipment from Wayne-Powers Industries. In his pursuit of the thief, Terry stumbles upon a hidden laboratory and comes face-to-face with a genetically enhanced gorilla named Goliath.
Goliath, who possesses the ability to communicate telepathically, reveals that he was created by Wayne-Powers as part of a failed experiment. The lab's lead scientist, Dr. Abel Cuvier, had intended to create a new type of animal to serve as a weapon for the company's security force, but his experiments led to the creation of a highly intelligent and powerful gorilla instead.
As Terry investigates further, he discovers that Dr. Cuvier has been using Goliath and other genetically enhanced animals as tools for his own criminal activities. But when Goliath develops a bond with a young girl named Melanie, who has a rare disorder that prevents her from speaking, Terry finds himself in a moral dilemma.
On one hand, he knows that Goliath is a dangerous creature who poses a threat to Gotham City. On the other hand, he sees the positive impact that Goliath has had on Melanie's life and begins to sympathize with the creature's plight. As he weighs his options, Terry must confront the reality that sometimes doing what's right isn't always black and white.
Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne continues to struggle with his failing health. As he watches Terry from afar, he realizes that the fate of Gotham rests in the young Batman's hands. With the city's safety in mind, Bruce must make a difficult decision that will have far-reaching consequences for his protege's future as the Dark Knight of Gotham.
In the end, Terry must face off against Goliath in a powerful showdown that will test his limits as a superhero. Along the way, he will be forced to confront his own beliefs about justice and humanity, ultimately learning a valuable lesson about the true nature of power and responsibility.
