The series His And Her Circumstances also known as Kare Kano or better still Kareshi Kanojou no Jijou is comedy on romance. It portrays the romantic relationship existing between Yukino Miyazawa and her Soichiro Arima and how the two relate with a host of other friends and schoolmates.

Yukino Miyazawa was always admired by her course mates and friends because she always excelled in academics and also her physical appearance as she always looked presentable. However, her perfection and outer looks were mostly deceptive and were only used by her to gain admiration from others.

In reality she was headstrong, lazy and spoiled. She was not the intelligent girl her mates thought she was, but she worked very hard to keep up and maintain the excellent grades she was known to be having.

The High School experience was different and quite challenging for her as she had a competitor known as Soichiro Arima.

Soichiro Arima was a young boy who was a threat to Yukino Miyazawa. He replaced her by being top of the class and Yukino was not happy about it and planned to take revenge on him. However, in the course of their duel Soichiro fell in love with Yukino but was rejected by her when he made his intentions known to her.

He got an urge over her when he one day paid her a visit in her home and discovered her real characters unlike the one they knew her to be in school.

In the course of their disagreements, fights and competitions, they realized they truly loved each other and had to admit that and stop the rivalry and pretense. This helped to improve their relationships with other coursemates and by so doing, they made new friends.

It was created by Masami Tsuda, directed by Hideaki Anno and Kazuya Tsurumaki. Publishing was done by Tokyopop.

The series which comprised 26 episodes was produced by Gainax.

The entire series is available on DVD.
