JAG is a drama that airs on CBS. The initials JAG stands for Judge Advocate General. The show stars Catherine Bell, David James Elliott, Patrick Labyorteaux, Karri Turner and John M. Jackson. The show is about military lawyers Harm, Mac, Bud and Admiral Chegwidden who help defend members of the military who have been accused of crimes.

Catherine Bell plays Sarah Mackenzie who is called by her nickname Mac. She has issues with alcoholism and abuse from her father. She has a hard time trusting men. She and Harm have an interesting relationship throughout the series. Both are very tough lawyers who fight for what they believe in. This often leads to tension between the two.

Harmon Rabb Jr. or Harm as he is nicknamed is a by the book kind of guy. He is a ladies man and his relationship with Mac often has him looking out for her because she has struggled with her sobriety. The two have a romantic relationship later on in the show. Both are very ambitious and will do anything necessary to win their cases.

Patrick Labyorteaux portrays Bud who is a public affairs officer in the beginning of the series but becomes a Judge Advocate General later on. He has a relationship with Harriett Simms who is portrayed by Karri Turner. He eventually marries her and the two have a baby together. Bud respects Harm and Mac and sees them as his mentors. He also has an interesting relationship with Admiral Chegwidden.

Bud suffers a traumatic leg injury after stepping on a landmine later in the series. He has to have part of his leg amputated. This leaves him with phantom pain and a hard time adjusting to his new way of life. The show is a legal drama and is also about relationships with co-workers who become like family.

JAG Full Episode Guide

  • Harm and Vukovic are teamed up to defend a sailor accused of manslaughter. Bud is assigned to prosecute what soon becomes dubbed "the dream team." At the end of episode it seems that Harm and Vukovic hold the ace but Bud has a surprise for them. General Cresswell then informs Mac that she is being posted to San Diego and Harm that he is being posted to London.

  • Gen. Cresswell's brother believes that remains found of a Vietnamese soldier are those of a helicopter pilot who saved his life during the war. Vukovic and Graves end up going to South Vietnam in search of a relative of the man's for a a DNA match.

  • Mac goes to Iraq to investigate a bombing that killed a group of Marine reservists, while Harm and Bud go to Oklahoma to assist their families, but end up prosecuting the sole survivor, who is accused of starting a fire that destroyed the Marine Reserve Center.

  • A marine Private kills a seemingly unarmed civilian in a raid on a Mosque in Karbala, Iraq. Lt. Vukovic goes to Iraq in order to defend the marine -- a hard task as the whole incident was filmed by a ZNN reporter. Meanwhile, Cresswell asks Mac to talk his daughter out of her plans to abandon a military career, and Harm maintains his vigil at Mattie's bedside.

  • Part of the JAG team goes to San Diego. Harm stays back as acting JAG. While he is there, a huge snowstorm strikes and Mattie is injured in an accident. Meanwhile, Mac and Vukovic find themselves working close to each other on a case at Camp Pendleton.

  • Mac and Lt. Vukovic go to Indonesia to negotiate with a modern-day pirate for the release of Naval hostages. Meanwhile, Bud and Harriet have an open house in celebration of their new twin babies.

  • When Harm is forced to shoot down a civilian plane flying in a "no-fly" zone in the Persian Gulf, Harm once again finds himself on the wrong side of the court-room.

  • A Navy psychiatrist in Afghanistan is accused of malpractice and a age discrimination suit are the cases assigned to Harm, Mac & Bud.

  • A Marine is charged with theft (stealing a car from an Iraqi), MG. Cresswell meets up with his old friend from Iraq but soon finds out that his friend is the father of the son that the Marine stole the car off of. Big Bud meanwhile is called up for service in Iraq but doesn't want to go and asks Bud for help

  • Harm and Mac are assigned to a case in south Florida involving the shooting death of a local car dealers son outside a popular bar. The Gen. requests that P.O. Coates be allowed to go along and assist Mac. The jury pool of base personnel is quickly depleted as most everyone on the base knew the accused, his former and very popular girlfriend, or had formed an opinion about the case. As a result Coates is forced to sit in as the Sixth Juror.

  • Harm looks into the crash of a F-14 Tomcat.

  • It's Christmas Eve. Col. MacKenzie crashes her car on the way home, and while unconscious through a series of episode flashbacks and discussions with a base therapist deals with many of her issues including infertility, insomnia, loneliness, Webb, and Harm.

  • The car belonging to a Navy Commander assigned to a Bio-Weapons Defense Laboratory is found abandoned on a bridge across the Potomac River. Harm & Mac work with FBI agents in the investigation.

  • Coates gets an unexpected visit when a friend from her criminal past shows up looking for a place to stay. A Naval aviator is in trouble for giving flying lessons to her father, a civilian who just bought an F-18. Bud intervenes on her behalf.

  • A Naval Academy sailing team (that includes Bud's younger brother Mikey) is fighting a squall during practice when a female sailor is swept overboard and drowned. The JAG staff investigate whether the Commander was negligent when he ordered his team to sail through the squall.

  • When a US Senator is killed in Baghdad, fingers point to the squad that was sent to protect him prompting Mac and Harm to find out what actually happened.

  • A Marine Colonel is on the President's short list to become the new Judge Advocate General sparking controversy while Harm & Mac investigate a Navy Ensign accused of shooting a Canadian fisherman.

  • Harm is asked to re-open a 20yr old case of a seaman accused of murdering a prostitute. He doesn't deny stabbing her but he didn't murder her. Harm finds out that a similar crime was committed and uses this to free the seaman who has been wrongfully imprisoned.

  • When a Marine is killed in Iraq as the result of "friendly fire", Harm & Mac investigation results in possible involvment by a private military contractor.

  • Mac is unable to accept the news that Clayton Webb really is dead and ends up in possible danger looking into Webb's "death".With the retirement of Rear Admiral A.J. Chegwidden, Cmdr. Sturgis Turner is named Acting Judge Advocate General.

  • The season finale finds cast members in a total state of change: Admiral Chegwidden reveals a surprising decision he has made; Mac is given some news about her health and Harm is faced with a personal loss.

  • Navy SEAL's come under the microscope when a large amount of heroin is intercepted and confiscated, only to have a kilo of it turn up missing.And Bud comes to the aid of a Marine singer who is being harassed by the record company that he is under contract to, when they object to him serving in the war.

  • Harm helps protects a mother of a marine killed in action while serving in Iraq from overzealous reporters. In so doing, he works to prepare her for the upcoming burial of her son.Mac & Bud are called upon to see why armored vests given to soldiers in the field to protect them, instead are failing to do what they were designed to do.

  • Mac learns to be careful what she asks for - as she is assigned to escort a female Marine prisoner, after having made the request that the prisoner should be escorted by someone able to control her.

  • Members of the "JAG" staff are "helped" along to discover their true inner feelings while celebrating Jennifer Coates promotion to Petty Officer 1st Class.

  • Mac continues to be tormented by her feelings over her having to kill Sadik Fahd, which begins to interfere with the other parts of her life - including her defense of a former Marine.Mattie continues to deal with how she feels toward her father.

  • Sadik Fahd who held Mac & Webb captive in Paraguay at the end of last season, shows up in Washington, DC and Mac has to wonder what he's up to when he begins to contact her.Harm temporarily loses his hearing when the car battery on his Corvette explodes while he was working on it.

  • When a female Naval officer is found brutally murdered, its up to Mac to defend the suspect - a male petty officer who was intoxicated and has absolutely no recollection of the entire evening.Also, a Navy SEAL Commander finds himself facing charges of larceny and fraud - his victim: the United States.

  • As Harm now has custody of Mattie, PO2 Jennifer Coates agrees to move into an apartment down the hall from Harm. Admiral Chegwidden looks into why the diamond he gave to Meredith for their engagement "just doesn't look right".

  • Harm attempts to gain legal guardianship Mattie, but finds his past single "lifestyle" may pose a problem in making good on his promise to her.

  • The death of a sailor repairing the ships radar dish leads Mac to prosecute and Harm to defend the sailor charged with the death.At the Naval Academy, Mikey's friendship is tested when his roommate introduces him to his sister and the two of them hit it off, causing fireworks between Mikey, his roommate & his sister Cassie.

  • A soldiers finds himself being investigated when his claim of killing an Iraqi prisoner makes the news.During the all-star game of the Navy & Marine baseball players, a batter narrowly escapes being killed after being hit by a ball thrown at him by the pitcher. The pitcher then comes under scrutiny for possible assault charges.

  • A Marine helicopter pilot finds himself under investigation when he intervenes in a civilian law enforcement hostage situation and puts an end to the hostage crisis.

  • Due to overloaded JAG caseload which was made worse by the review of all of Cmdr. Imes cases, the Admiral has the SecNav re-instate Harm's Naval Commission, clearing the way for Harm to return to JAG.When a US submarine rescues 10 North Koreans after their vessel sinks in South Korean waters, Cmdr. Turner arrives from Washington to determine their purpose.

  • Harm finds his first mission flying for the CIA takes him to the Phillipines where he must "drop" a limo. Back at JAG, "Mikey" Roberts calls on Mac to help him when he must act as a character witness in a honor code conflict.

  • Harm returns to Washington, DC and is shocked to discover that Admiral Chegwidden had actually processed his resignation through official channels. Also, a female petty officer listed as missing in action during Desert Storm is located in Iraq, married to a bedouin sheik. As a result, the Navy charges her with desertion.

  • The 9th season begins where last season left off, with Harm, Mac, Webb & Gunny still in Paraguay searching for the terrorist Sadik. Their search is complicated by Harm's feelings being tangled up which drove him to resign his commission & rush to South America in the first place.
