MasterChef is a culinary reality show on Fox Television Network. This smash hit takes amateur chefs from around the country and has them compete for the coveted title. The show stars Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich. During the show, contestants compete in a series of competitive cooking challenges. In the end, one contestant's culinary dreams are turned into a reality.

Since the show has been such a hit, it is now on its third season. Open casting calls are held before each season begins. The chosen competitors come from all walks of life. Out of everyone that attends auditions, only 100 amateur cooks get the chance to compete. They are flown to Los Angeles where they have an opportunity to earn the title of MasterChef. Along with that, the winner also receives a 250,000 grand prize.

On challenge night, at least two judges must like the contestants' food. If they don't earn two yes votes, they must compete in a pressure test. The pressure test is meant to be extremely challenging. During the test, the three worse performers are given a dish to prepare in a limited time frame. The dish is judged on both taste and presentation. Once time is up, the judges critique and taste the food. If they don't like the food, the judges are more than willing to criticize the dish. At least one of the three is eliminated. The eliminated contestant must remove his or her MasterChef apron before leaving the building.
