Meerkat manor follows several families of Meerkats who each take turns in certain jobs to ensure the benefit and smooth running of their families. Each family is led by one male and female who are the only ones allowed to breed and are in charge of who stays and who gets kicked out.

The Whisker's family is the main family in the series and is mostly ran by Flower who runs the den for 5 consecutive years. Though she is a great leader she sadly dies from a snake bite.

Other groups that were shown was the whisker family's troublesome and competitive neighbors the Lazuli. Though the Lazuli seemed to be very troublesome another group known as the commandoes deemed to prove themselves worse when they attacked the Lazuli den killing one of their pups and injuring the babysitter.

The commandoes also began killing off pups from females of the whiskers family when they were kicked out of the den. Eventually the commandoes began stealing some of the Whiskers territory. This proved to be a very hard time for the whiskers family.

New neighbors eventually came in. The Zappa and the Starsky moved in. Though it doesn't seem they had to much problem with Starsky Zappa would attack the whiskers den frequently even though their numbers were smaller. In one of the attacks the Zappa backed off but abandoned one of their pups. Somewhat being a very rare occurrence, the Whiskers adopted the pup and raised it as their own.

Starsky was virtually no threat as it was combined of Flower's daughters who were kicked out of the Whiskers den. Though they were not very much of a threat to the Whiskers group they went through many hardships. Besides having to deal with the many predators in the area, there were lack of pups and they soon became ill and began to die off. The very last member to survive was Mozart who did not die by illness but by a jackal.

Another of flower's daughters Maybelline broke off from her family and started her own group called the Aztecs. They quickly grew and became rivals for the whiskers families.

This series follows the lives of many groups of Meerkats, primarily the Whiskers group in their hardships and more.
