Racing Green is an exhilarating and fascinating TV show produced by the BBC exploring the world of green technology and alternative fuels. Hosted by racing driver and television presenter Ben Collins, the show chronicles the journey of a team of engineers, mechanics and drivers as they set out to design and build the world's fastest electric car.

The concept of Racing Green is to demonstrate the possibilities of green technology by building a car that can compete with petrol-powered cars at the highest level of motorsport. The show documents the design and testing process, with each episode focusing on a specific aspect of the build.

The team is led by engineer and inventor Tim Bishop, who has worked for a range of F1 and IndyCar teams. His experience and expertise drive the project forward, as he balances the technical challenges with the practical realities of building an electric car that can rival the best in the world.

Throughout the season, the team encounters numerous obstacles, ranging from technical issues to financial constraints. However, they remain steadfast in their desire to build the ultimate electric racing car, pushing themselves and their technology to the limit.

The show features a range of experts in the field of green technology, as well as insight from the world of motorsport. The team consults with engineers, physicists, and designers, receiving advice on everything from aerodynamics to battery technology.

One of the most exciting aspects of the show is the testing phase, as the Racing Green car takes on some of the most notorious tracks in the world, such as the Nürburgring and Silverstone. The testing is a thrilling sight to behold, as the electric car hurtles around the track, pushed to its limits and beyond.

As well as the technical challenges, the team must also overcome their own personal barriers. Throughout the course of the series, the viewer gets to know each member of the team, hearing their individual stories and learning about their motivations for being part of the Racing Green project.

The show has a strong narrative structure, with each episode building on the last to create a sense of anticipation and excitement. There are constant twists and turns, as the team encounter new challenges and unexpected setbacks.

Racing Green is a thought-provoking and inspiring show, offering a glimpse into the future of green technology and its potential to revolutionize the world of motorsport. The series brings together a broad range of disciplines, from engineering to psychology, offering a holistic view of what it takes to build a world-class electric race car.

Overall, Racing Green is an excellent addition to the BBC's lineup of motoring shows, offering a fresh and innovative take on the genre. It is a must-watch for anyone interested in the future of green technology, as well as motorsport fans who are curious about what lies ahead in the world of racing.

The border crossing into Chile happens in record time and the team is set to visit the European Southern observatory in the middle of the Atacama desert, one of the driest places on Earth. It's a very inspiring moment to connect with other engineers at the front-line of technology and reflect on their latest findings about the universe. There is another racing competition in Santiago and after 64 driving days the team finally reaches Argentina, the 14th country. But on the way to Ushuaia, the most Southern city in the world they still have to cover over 1500km and are facing plenty of surprises.

In Ecuador the team has a unique opportunity to test the SR-0 on the Ibarra race track. They push the SR-0 to the limit and nearly crash. At a press conference in Quito disaster strikes. The SR-0 collides into a wall. Repairs are only possible with the help of very skilled local craftsmen. The journey continues along the stunning Pacific coast of Peru but a fault in the battery management system leads to excessive electricity consumption. Once again, the young engineers need all their skills to fix the problem.
Colombia to Ecuador
6. Colombia to Ecuador
February 12, 2011
Colombia, at the start of South America looks bleak. Most low voltage cables of the SR-0 got burnt when the car caught fire in the harbour of Cartagena. The repairs take 2 weeks and the team spirit is tested to breaking point. Eventually the adventure continues into the lush greenery of the Colombian mountains towards Medellin and Bogota. The regenerating braking system of the SR-0 proves to be very efficient. It recharges the battery whenever the car goes downhill. In Pasto the team meets an ex Formula 3 racing driver who helps them crossing the border into Ecuador and sets them up with a new police escort.
Guatemala to Colombia
5. Guatemala to Colombia
February 5, 2011
Central America adds massive challenges to the Racing Green adventure. Security is a major worry and enormous tropical rain storms are pushing the team and the SR-0 to the limits. In Honduras they visit an oil power plant and in Costa Rica they find out how the country produces electricity with geothermal energy. Shipping the SR-0 from Panama to Colombia turns into a serious headache and causes further delays. Eventually the SR-0 arrives in Cartagena but mysteriously the car catches fire.
Mexico to Guatemala

Getting into Mexico makes the team nervous because they hear more and more stories about drug wars along the US border. Exactly in that danger zone they get stuck at night with a broken shock absorber. Various other delays build up serious time pressure to reach a major press conference in Mexico City. Eventually the team starts to relax and accepts a certain unpredictability. They get stuck in a bus strike in Oaxaca, visit a huge wind farm in La Ventosa and get welcomed by a heavily armed police escort at the border of Guatemala.
