Ristorante Paradiso, (meaning "Paradise Restaurant") or "Rispara" for short is the 11 episode anime adaptation of Natsume Ono's romantic, slice of life manga for an adult audience. Ristorante Paradiso's anime incarnation features the direction of Mitsuko Kase, the character designs of Itsuko Takeda, is the first full anime production by David Production Inc, and is licensed for American distribution by The Right Stuf International's Lucky Penny label. The series has only a single opening and ending theme, Orange Pekoe's "Marigold" and Lisa Komine's "Suteki na Kaijitsu" (meaning "Lovely Fruit") respectively.

Ristorante Paradiso's main protagonist is the 21-year old Nicoletta, a girl who was mostly raised by her grandparents after her mother and father divorced while she was still a child. Nicoletta's story begins as she moves to Rome, Italy after recently graduating from culinary school. After Olga, Nicoletta's mother, loans out an apartment for her daughter, Nicoletta manages to acquire an apprenticeship within the Casetta dell'Orso restaurant, noting that she seems to be the only female talent within the business.

Nicoletta earns this apprenticeship from Lorenzo Orsini, her mother Olga's current husband and owner of Casetta dell'Orso, by simply asking him. While working at the restaurant, Nicoletta becomes familiar with several of the place's hired staff. Santo Claudio Paradiso serves as the head waiter of the restaurant, who catches Nicoletta's eye upon when it's revealed that he is recently divorced yet still wears his wedding ring. Two other men fill out the wait staff; the grandfatherly widow who cares for his grandson, Luciano de Luca, and the freshly married Vito. In addition to the various waiters, Nicoletta meets Gian Luigi Orsini, the restaurant's sommelier who also happens to be single as well as Lorenzo's half-brother; Furio, one of Casetta's chefs who is devoted to his wife; and lastly the youthful Teo, Casetta's other chef whose finer talents lend themselves to pastry.
