In this episode of Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations, host Andrew Zimmern takes us on a culinary tour of the beautiful city of Oslo, Norway. Known for its fresh seafood and hearty comfort food, Oslo has a thriving food scene that combines traditional Nordic cuisine with modern flare.

Zimmern starts his journey at the iconic Grand Hotel, where he enjoys a traditional Norwegian breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. He then heads to Vulkanfisk, a fish market located in the heart of Oslo, to try some of the freshest seafood in the city. Here, he samples everything from raw oysters to king crab legs, all scoured straight from the icy waters of the Oslofjord.

Next, Zimmern heads to the trendy Grünerløkka neighborhood, known for its street art and hipster vibe. Here, he visits Mathallen, a food hall that showcases some of the best local and international flavors. He samples a variety of dishes, including reindeer sausage, lingonberry jam, and artisanal cheese, all made by passionate food artisans.

Moving on, Zimmern visits Lofoten Fiskerestaurant, a cozy seafood joint overlooking the harbor. Here, he tries the Norwegian specialty, lutefisk, a dish made of dried cod preserved in lye. Although the dish has a strong taste and smell, Zimmern enjoys the unique flavors and notes that it's an acquired taste.

Continuing his food adventure, Zimmern heads to Brugata Landhandleri & Spiseri, a restaurant that specializes in Nordic comfort food. Here, he indulges in a traditional dish of beef stew and mashed potatoes, the ultimate comfort food that's perfect for a cold Nordic night.

Finally, Zimmern concludes his trip at the legendary Høvikodden Mat og Vinhus, a rustic restaurant situated among a cluster of wooden houses on the outskirts of Oslo. Here, he samples a mouth-watering dish of elk meat served with parsnip purée and lingonberry sauce, a dish that beautifully combines the flavors and traditions of Norway.

Throughout the episode, Zimmern also takes the time to explore the city's rich history and culture, including visits to the Viking Ship Museum and the renowned Edvard Munch Museum.
